A coastal home-owners association was experiencing significant difficulties in recoveries of electricity utilities.
The Brief:
A leading KZN sectional titled development was experiencing severe under-recovery of electricity utilities. The metering system that was originally installed proved to be inefficient which led to problematic recoveries. Over time, the home-owners association suspected flaws in the wiring discrimination between units, believing that cross-contamination of metering was taking place between units.
Our Solution :
The original metering system was replaced entirely with Unimet’s metering equipment, and the SmartZone (our proprietary state of the art revenue management system that seamlessly integrates with all the metering equipment and automatically generates billing recoveries) was implemented. Various staff of the home-owners association were given comprehensive training of the system and an initial round of formal training was offered to the home owners and residents.
The Results:
The issues in the under-recovery of electricity utilities were resolved. With the meters in prepaid mode, the home-owners association has much-improved cashflow. Disputes with the residents are a thing of the past now that the home-owners are able to view real-time data relating to their consumption and billing. Top-up payments into the wallet are conveniently done online which alleviates frustrations of having to purchase tokens from non-local facilities.
